The construction of a new two-story, fully sprinkled, 67,000 square foot building is located on the site of the previous Springfield Elementary School. The facility was constructed predominantly of structural steel with brick veneer attached to exterior sheathing, structural steel studs, and a roof supported with steel joists, trusses, and metal decking. Some elements of load-bearing masonry are integrated into the structure. Two roof systems were utilized, including both modified bituminous and architectural standing seam metal. A water source heat pump system is used for the majority of the spaces with a separate make-up air system providing outside air. Finishes included: VCT, ceramic and quarry tile, rubberized flooring, carpet, acoustical ceilings, paint, casework, marker and tack boards, and an elevator. This project also included supporting site work and utilities.
